FPL Statement – August 26, 2022:

FPL has encountered a technical issue and will not energize the new transformers on Hibiscus Island until the transformer loads are balanced. As designed and currently implemented, the loads are balanced to the original drawings that were approved over ten years ago. New construction on the island and the resulting increase in energy demand must now be addressed prior to energizing the new transformers. FPL is working to ensure that future growth on the island is also addressed. The timeline for overcoming this unexpected project delay has not yet been established.
