Hurricane Season Forecast
According to the experts, such as the NOAA Climate Prediction Center, the 2021 season looks to be as active as last year (17 named storms, 8 hurricanes, 4 major hurricanes). Regardless of how many storms are predicted, we need at all times to be prepared for the possibility of a direct hit.
COVID-19 Precautions
- Remember when considering your evacuation location, it is advisable to avoid groups/gatherings if not vaccinated. The CDC provides guidance for preparing for hurricanes under COVID-19.
- Public evacuation centers will be made available when needed, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, will accept fewer people at each location. Social distancing and other restrictions may still be in place. Make sure that you take proper Miami Beach identification with you; you may need it to re-enter the city after damage and safety assessments are made.
- Consider packing additional disinfecting wipes, masks and hand sanitizer when putting together your preparedness kit.
