PHS Water Quality Testing

Water quality testing gets a start in the PHS Islands community

In conjunction with the venerable global Surfrider Foundation, the Miami Chapter’s Blue Water Task Force is undertaking a four-week pilot program in our community.  Adding to the growing list of waterways being tested in and around Miami Beach, three sites in the PHS islands are being sampled on a weekly basis by Surfrider during a one-month trial. Three PHS resident volunteers were trained by Surfrider in April on the correct protocol to collect and deliver samples from public easements at West Palm, East Hibiscus and the Star Island bridge to Surfrider’s laboratory on South Beach. The samples are then tested and the results reported in Surfrider’s weekly newsletter.
